Within my methodological research, I am mostly interested in short-term dynamics of media selection and effects and detailed measurement of media exposure.
Mobile experience sampling (mESM) contributes to both of these crucial objectives in communication research. Assessing media exposure and media effects via Smartphone directly after the reception situation provides us with very detailed and intensive longitudinal data. mESM measures media coverage at a very detailed level and is able to assess dynamics of media selection and effects as they unfold over a short period of time.
